Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

I bought my daughter a V.Smile in 2006. She will be turning 7 years old in Febuary and she still plays with it. I LOVE this game system! It is educational and very durable. I haven't had any problems with it. V. Smile has helped her in school a lot. She is a straight A student and was the valedictorian of her kindergarten class. My daughter is teaching her 3 year old sister how to play now. THANK YOU V.Tech for making learning fun in my home.

I have had this for years (probably 4 years..I think) My son has had to grow into it. My younger son picked it up very quickly. My other son has attention issues, so it took awhile for him to get the hang of it. There are multiple games that you can get to easily...don't HAVE to complete one task to get to the next...we love that! Fun characters. The images are not perfect, because it is an older game toy and not expensive. But, it has lasted a long time and has been played a lot. Also, we have everything for it!

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

I have bought 2 V.smiles, both have had the same problem. You cannot extract and insert a new game without problems. There must be a loose connection that is created by the plugging and unplugging of games. I now turn of the mashine, then unplug it from power, then extract the game, and plug in the now one. Then reconnect power, and turn it on. Then it for some reason is more likely to accept the game

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

This product isn't so bad when it decides to work. I purchased the tv learning system for my daughter when she was a little too young for it. We hung on to it and purchased a couple of games. After going thru 2 sets of batteries I decided to purchase the a/c adaptor which was NOT included originally. All together there might possibly be 2-3 hours of play and now after contacting vsmile they are graciously sending a new joystick due a couple of the games locking up during play. I guess we'll see what happens. If I would have read the reviews on this toy before purchasing-I never would have bought it! Enough $$$ was spent for a toy that got very little play time;

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

Luke was so excited to get the V.Smile console and play his games on the big screen. It's great to be able to use the same games on the tv console and the travel unit. We probably have 20 v.smile games. The joystick on the console is not as sensitive as it should be and Luke gets frustrated with it sometimes. The console also does not have a headphone jack which Luke likes so he can use his earbuds. I am finding less and less games in the stores so I hope this toy does not get discontinued. Luke really enjoys it.

VTech Kids Response: Did you know that all V.Motion game Smartridges can also be played in your V.Smile and V.Smile Pocket?

I bought this system for my oldest daughter when she was 3 going on 4, and now she is about to turn 6 in a couple of days. She loves it and it is very educational and she loves the different games. I am thinking about getting her the new Vsmile Vmotion system, but i have so many games for the Vsmile system with the corded game controller and I was wondering can those games be played on the Vsmile Vmotion? If not? i have to buy more games? And if so, i have saved a couple of bucks..

VTech Kids Response: Thank you for your interest in our products. You will be happy to know that all of your V.Smile game Smartridges can also be used in the V.Motion.

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

I bought this unit 4 years ago and have never had any major problems with it.Where we live it gets allot of use because winters are long and cold. My boys are 5 and 6 now. I find that when the game cartridge gets dirty inside it does affect the unit by shutting down the game or it won't run at all. So when this happens I clean the inside of the game by slidding back the lip and using a Q tip and rubbing alcohal and making sure it's dry. I also clean the unite its self that way where you insert the game. I have had to replace one controller because my kids have pulled the wires from the controller out. They also now have the hand held game unites and take them every where. I do think the games are a bit to exspensive. so I try to find used ones to buy. I have to buy two of each game so it can get spendy.
Trust me when I say my boys really abuse this unit and games. They are really hard on it and use it allot.

This was bought for our Great Grandson last Christmas 2009. He lives with us so we watch him play with this all the time and he does enjoy it and I believe learns counting etc. however he has had it only a month and it freezes while playing. We wiggle the cord unplug and replug the controls and finally it will start again but this is really anoying since you buy all these games and you can't seem to get thru playing one before it freezes.

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

As a single working parent, I am very motivated to find activities my son can do on his own when I need to be doing things around the house that aren't kid-friendly. This was one great solution - both of us really enjoyed it, it keeps his brain ticking, as oppose to plopping him in front of the TV, I can do the dishes and listen to him laughing and counting and reading trying to figure things out. I would estimate he spends about 4-12 hrs a week on it depending on the weather. The first unit quit working after almost a year. It had never been pulled off the table or exposed to any harsh treatment, so I was a bit surprised. At that point, we owned most of the game cartridges and H just loveloveloved it, so I bought a replacement. A year later, I'm on my THIRD replacement. Only one got returned because I had thrown out the packaging from the first replacement, the second replacement lasted a few weeks longer than the store's 30-day return policy. This latest replacement is a new-design model lacking the microphone and the writing pad. I finally called customer service and got some lady who assured me that any microphone and joystick with a writing pad will work. No, they will not send me one, so I have to buy two more things for this monster. Absolutely no satisfaction from that dep't, even got a "thank you for purchasing our products, we hope you enjoy them!" at the end.
I should have bought a Wii, even with the initial expense, I may still have come out ahead.
P.S. He does also have the handheld unit for when we are traveling, been replaced once, but obviously gets a lot more abuse. If you want this system, you might want to go with that. It has a cord that allows you to plug it into the TV for big viewing but the controls are very difficult for the younger set, he couldn't use them efficiently until about 4 1/2 yrs old.

I bought the Vtech for my 5 year old two Christmas ago and am enjoying seeing how well he is progressing. The games that were too advanced for him last year are perfect for him this year. The does get stuck coming on sometimes but he's very hands on with it so I don't know if it's the game or his fooling with it that causes that :). I am having trouble purchasing the microphone and the writing pad accessories, can't find them anywhere, even on Vtech website. Other than that, great product. Am considering purchasing the hand held component so that he can play in the car too.

I intially purchased the V. Smile learning systen back in November 2007 for my child for Christmas. Whith in a month the system quite working. I still had the box a receipt, so I took it back to the store for an exchange. With in six months the second one quite working. I no longer had the receipt or box, so I was out [$]. I recently bought a third V.tech smile about 6 months ago, and it now does not work! I would have never purchased another V.tech Smile, but my kids have 10-very expensive games, that they cannot play on any other system. I am highly dissatisfied with this product and I would not recoomend anyone purchasing it! I have 4 kids that could have used this learning system, and we haven't even made it through 1 child using it!

We brought the V.Smile for our daughter who just turned five. She LOVES it and I love it too. I brought the adapter when I brought the system so we wouldn't have to worry about changing batteries all the time. It is entertaining and keeps her busy learning. The game are not hard to learn and the controller has a help button that allows instructions to be repeated. She has the remote the comes with the writing tablet and the microphone so she can draw and sing if she wants to. This was a great investment and a toy that she will play with for years to come. Thanks V.Smile. Keep the great products coming.

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

Got this really cheap on Black Friday (I think it was [$]), and had read reviews before we got it so we knew to buy a power adapter. My 2 yr old struggles to work the joystick so I have to do it for him and have him hit the buttons. My 4 yr old loves to play and hands the controller to me when he can't get past a certain spot. The unit stopped working after about 7 months, and we had purchased a 2 yr extended warranty. We didn't keep the box, so the store hassled us a little, but they agreed to exchange it, and they kept the box from the new one. All-in-all, not a bad gaming system. It's no Xbox or PSP, but it's educational and the games are non-violent. It's inexpensive and easy to use with a wide variety of games. Considering what we paid, I'm extremely pleased, but if it stops working again, I'll turn to leapfrog instead.

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

It is easy to see this online because they have the adapter listed, but have fun burning through batteries until you find the "Adapter sold separately" mini-print in the manual. My kid loves it so I won't give it one star but this seems like a no-brainer. Include the darn adapter.

Comments about VTech Electronics V.Smile TV Learning System:

I bought this toy for my daughter when she was 26 months old. Because of her age, she is limited in which games she can comprehend and she requires a parent to help to control the joystick. She loves the microphone sing-a-long and the Little Mermaid learning games. The graphics are very 80's, it reminds me of my childhood. The system plugs right into my flat screen monitor, and the cords are long enough to allow me to tuck it away to the side without unplugging. I have the wall outlet attachment, so I don't know what battery life would be like. I've used the video games as potty training rewards. My daughter frequently requests games on her "computer". I wish there were more than 3 sing-a-long songs for the microphone.
