I found this camera to be an awesome idea! My husband is a professional photographer so my son was thrilled at being a photographer like his daddy. He takes pictures of everything in site. Only problem is that it does its own thing every now and again, in the middle of shooting pics the camera settings will just come up, or while playing the games the camera will come up. Its very frustrating to my son and myself..Don't have a clue what is the reason for that problem.

My daughter got the pink one for her third birthday from her grandmother. She Loves it so much(still does). She takes pictures, makes videos and plays games. Her little brother liked it so much that for the next Christmas we got him the blue one. Are the pictures the best, no, but they are more than good enough for a 5 y.o. and 3 y.o. The frames and items that can be used to embellish the pictures are great. We never got memory cards for them, but found that they store a good bit until we can upload the pictures to the computer.

My son already adores it, and spent his entire birthday snapping away. The default of showing pictures randomly when reviewing and automatically using slide show rather than viewing each picture individually were very frustrating. The Mac OSX software was not on the disk and finding it on the website was accidental, as there were no clear links. (For others, click on Learning Lodge Navigator and scroll down. A lot.) I still have not figured out how to turn the sound off. And the games, while cute, are quite distracting.

I bought for Christmas 2008, my daughter was 2 years old, 3 years have passed and still is using it and play! I love kidizoom. Now I´m looking for a new one, for my baby boy.

I think you should indicate that no memory card is included. Had I seen such a indication when I ordered I would have purchased it. It was disappointing to recieve it and then fid out I had to go to a store to purchase a memory card.

My son got this camera for Christmas...out of 37 gifts this is the one he fell in love with. Its great. he loves taking pictures just like his Mommy and Daddy. he even slept with it! so why only 3 stars? well, it broke after 5 days. i guess i didn't exactly break but the bottom part, where you load the batteries does not meet tightly enough to form a connection everytime. so half the time it wont even turn on. the other half Mommy has to HOLD the bottom so he can take a picture. i had to take it away from him so i can return it and it broke his 2-year old heart.

The gift was sent directly to the recipient, so I have not seen or used it. But from reports from the family, this was the hit of the party -- great fun for the 4-year-old as well as for her 6-year-old brother. Seems easy to use, and any pictures too silly to keep can easily be deleted.

I got this for my son for his 6th birthday. He easily picked up how to use all the special effects and games. He dropped it twice and it is extremely durable. He even wanted to sleep with it at night. My only tip would be buy rechargeable batteries because they can drain quickly if your chiild plays non stop like mine.

My son is 9 and has down syndrome. He uses and plays with this camera on a daily basis. He is VERY picture oriented and we use pictures a lot for communication. I also home school him and we use the video part of the camera to record books being read, letter sounds etc.. This camera has been VERY durable for us. It's been chucked across grocery stores and into car windows, dropped down the stairs, and amazingly still works. It does eat up batteries but we just use rechargeables and I figure it's a toy and he uses it daily. To me it's worth every penny!! I would highly recommend this product for the reasons listed above.
I also agree with the other comments.......games are not important with a camera. My son does NOT use any of these features. It would be a plus if it were water proof but we'll still keep it!!

Gave one to my grandson on his 5th birthday after observing his slightly younger cousin with one. After half a day he was excitedly making movies and still shots which we all watched on the TV. He has a lot to learn about composition, but he's having a ball learning.

I bought three of the cameras for my grandchildren this Christmas. They are wonderful and the kids had a ball taking pictures. The ages were 4 years to 9 years and they all could work the cameras. The older kids could do more, but I was impressed with how easy they were to use for the 4 year old. I would recommend these in a heart beat.

My two five year old girls and my 4 yr old son love their cameras. We bought them each one for christmas because we love to take pictures...they we thrilled they have had no problems accessing all the different features. The love to hook them up to the tv and show everyone slide shows of their pics. They are learning to make the own photo albums so they can treasure the childhood memories for years to come.

The camera was nice while it lasted but it only lasted about 6mo with our 3yr old it started eating the batteries at first and then eventually just quit we would put brand new batteries in and it said they still needed to be changed. and the picture quality was like cell phone quality the older cell phones not the new ones but I guess what can you expect from a kids toy I just thought it would last longer my son isn't that hard on toys I mean I have seen way way worse

This product is just as I imagine it to be. It makes my baby happy because it takes lots of pictures and he takes great pictures for a 3 year old. I really cant say any thing bad about the product because he is happy with the camera and I am happy to.

Our daughter has gone through two vtech cameras. The first broke when she dropped it. This didn't surprise us as it is, despite its plastic armor, a piece of electronic equipment. The second stopped working for no apparent reason after two months of use. We found corrosion in the battery compartment. We cleaned the corrosion, replaced the batteries and got it working again for about a day when it stopped again. This time there was fresh corrosion in the battery compartment again and we got rid of it. I will not buy another one.

We bought this camera as an upgrade/7 th birthday present. Over two years ago we purchased the original Kidizoom camera for a Christmas gift. We were not expecting the pictures to be the same quality as my Kodak; we just wanted something durable enough to introduce our daughter to photography. We expected that camera to last maybe six months. It is still working. It has been carried and used almost daily. It has been from one side of the country to the other and let me tell you....some of those pics were awesome..it has taught her to concentrate and hold the camera steady.

There was an accident and kool-aid made it's way into the unit, while it still works sporadically, she missed it. We went online to find who had the best deal on a replacement when I saw that V-Tech had improved and updated the original.

We have had this one three weeks; on second set of batteries. Will be purchasing a new set of rechargable batteries to use in the unit. The quality of the pictures have improved but they are 2 meg. She is thrilled with it....and doesn't mind. She was able to operate all the new features without instruction.

I would recommend this camera for an older child (older than 2 or 3 years old) as the SD card slot is accessible to the child. The child still has to work on holding the camera steady. Camera is not water-resistant.

5yr old loves it. The batteries were done in 2 days. Photo quality is not great but the kids love it. My 3yr old needs help with using it when changing from photo to games etc..and she does not have much interest in it but my 5 year old can take photos, vedio, play games etc all indepandantly. I bought this camera for my 3 year old after reading all of the great reviews.

The main reason I wanted this camera over the competition was because of the capability of adding the SD memory card. I was very disappointed to find that the camera does not function at all when trying to use the SD card. We experienced the camera lock up saying "memory error". We have tried other brands of memory cards, with the same outcome. We tried contacting Vtech to see if there was a software update, only to receive an email back saying that using the camera with an SD card will slow performance of the camera. In our experience, it does not slow the performance, it causes the camera to not function.

Without the SD card, and using the camera with the internal memory it works great. My kid loves it. It just does not perform as I believe it should. If you are going to sell a camera with the added feature of an external memory slot, then it should work.

I am frustrated and disappointed that I spent the extra money to get a feature that does not work.

My little girl does enjoy using it, although the pictures mostly come out blurry. A three year old just does not stay still enough to take clear pictures. I really do like the binocular vision to take the photos, it seems to work out well for a child.

Overall, if you want to see pictures through the eyes of your child, then you will enjoy this camera. As long as your expectations are not for prize winning photos. The SD memory card slowing and locking up the camera is a definite disappointment.

My 6 year old daughter had this up and running 15 minutes out of the box. The buttons are layed out well for little hands and features are intuitive for young minds. We have not started downloading pics and videos yet, but the taking part is great. The only drawback is there's no way to charge the camera. It's battery reload only. Not sure why - this seems expensive and like a pain....

This camera takes terrible photos. The flash works for about 3 feet. Many of the photos are either completely black or completely white.

My son (2.5 years) loves his new camera. His favorite feature is the video camera part where he can make movies. He likes to add the balloons and clapping hands and then watches the movies over and over after. He really enjoys being able to take pictures just like Mommy & Daddy.

This is the started camera to get. It has the internal memory for lots of pix and video, accepts SD cards, has binocular viewer and LCD screen, extremely durable, resonable battery life. My 5-yr old grandson just grabbed it from my hand and started taking pictures - did not even want to hear any instructions. The 3-yr old also used it - and treated it more roughly. Saw them again a month later and the camera still worked and was being used! Can't say that for many things I give them! Absolutely recommend!!!

We gave this to our 5 year old son as a gift for starting Kindergarten. He opened it right before bed, and so we didn't have time to learn how to use it. But, by morning, he had figured out all the features all by himself! The batteries only lasted a few days, but I think that is because my son used it so much!

I had been looking for the perfect kids camera. We've had quite a few different ones - all of have been major duds. I did better research recently and discovered this updated version of the Kidizoom. I decided to take a chance on it, and am so glad we did. I have a 6-yr old, so all of the features were not too much for him, although the design is a little baby-ish. We both love the zoom feature, the fun design/prop feature, the video feature, and the easy-to-see view screen. I love that it's easy to use, download pictures, and has an expandable memory, so that the pictures don't get deleted every time the batteries die. I am really pleased with this camera!
