I bought this for my 4 year old daughter so she could take her own pictures and even after going through all the settings, I couldn't get a good steady picture. The picture was dark and blurry! I'd rather spend the money on a regular camera and have better pictures for her to have. This camera was a total waste of money. Don't bother buying this. If I could pick NO stars for this, I would.

We have two of these cameras - one from Santa last year, and another one for my son's birthday this year. The camera is a big hit in our house, kids had hours entertainment!

It's a good size for little hands, easy to hold although my 4 year old finds it a bit tricky to press the camera button while looking at the screen. It is quite sturdy, has been dropped numerous times and it still works ;) Has good selection of photo effects and frames. Both children loved taking videos of everything and everybody.

On the downside - image quality is not great, seems to work OK on bright days but indoors with the lights on is hard to see who is on the photo. Games are not great and they barely play them.

And I'm not sure how great it is to have a video recording - few times private conversations have been caught on hidden camera by little people - so be careful!:))

Overall it is a good toy, a bit expensive if you consider the quality of photos, but my 4yo and 6yo don't seem to mind, they have great fun playing with the special effects.

I thought this product was going to be a good choice for my twins I bought both girls a camera each. It was hard to see and the pictures were not quality but still they had fun snapping pictures of their family during the holiday. They had fun with the camera until the battery on it died and we can't figure out how to charge it back up or if it has batteries and how to change them. If somebody knows please help.

My daughter is Three, and wants to take pictures, luckily she see a flash occassionaly and it makes her happy. I have tried to take pictures wit hit and they come out poor, and if you slightly move it blurrs. MAYBE A FIRMWARE UPDATE COULD STOP THIS? VTECH ITS IN YOUR HANDS. Until this fix, I would not recommend to anyone over four (4) years old.

Great for 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 years old. Low quality 2.0 mega pixels, tiny display and bulky body. My daughter is approaching 4yrs and like many young children can navigate a smart phone, iTouch, DS etc (just needs help w/ reading parts). The cameras and mini-laptops (from all manufacturers), have failed to catch up on image display, graphics and screen size. Vtech has been the leader since my 13yr old was little, but they have yet to include the advances of their E-Reader & MobiGo into these products. They remain in 1st place but if your child is past two (and is exposed to electronics), go for the above mentioned products. They hit the mark and my daughter asks for my laptop and smart phone much less, but not completely. Education and gaming have not quite connected but both are advantageous to critical thinking, technology skills and problem solving (it's the balance we always have to watch even when they do connect these industries).
An inexpensive digital camera and some parental help will keep them interested, they know when they are being dumbed down. Very different from my Gen, but we were orig. cell phone and beeper folks. Hope this helps!

I bought this camera for my daughter for Christmas, and the batteries didn't last long. I went to change them, and now the camera will not even turn on! I've tried resetting it, changing the batteries twice, and nothing. Very frustrated with Vtech!! My daughter loved it till it didn't work! Get it together Vtech, this is not the first of your products that have crashed on us!

I bought this camera for my daughter and a blue one for my son. His works perfectly. Hers had a problem reading the SD card and we had to send it back. unfortunately, they are out of stock with no ability to replace so i had to buy the next model up which was an additional $20. This is rather frustrating to me. The cameras are great for a kids first camera but without the SD card, they run out of space in about 10 minutes. Disappointed that they have nothing but the more expensive replacement.

My 4 yr old loves her camera! Now she doesn't ask to use mine anymore. She really likes the 5 games on it, and she is learning how to take videos and add the sound effects. The 1st day she had the camera, she took over 200 pictures, only 35 were worth saving. Picture quality is blurry, out of focus. But she is learning to hold still while taking a picture. She doesn't really care about the picture outcome, she just enjoys the process! She has even learned how to connect it to the TV to watch her videos and pics on the big screen. This camera is so easy for her to use.

We got this for my daughter's 4th birthday she loved it so much she took it with her every where resulting in her losing it. We purchased it from a local store the first time and have been trying to get her another one but have failed to find it anywhere. Finally we found it on the Vtech site and sadly it is out of stock. This is really a great camera for small kids that tend to drop things alot. The picture quality is good and she loved the editing feature. We really want to get her another one we just cant find it anywhere.

My daughter loved this camera when she got it for Christmas. Much like some of the other reivewers, she was constantly taking my camera and now that problem is solved.
My one issue is a big one, though. The plastic cover for the memory card slot was easily broken off. My 18-month-old son pulled it off and immediately put it in his mouth - not a good thing. Did I get a defective unit? Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Customer care - what say you? Is my model a reject?

My son loves this camera, he mainly loves the games. However, the first one we had started randomly changing modes(after only a couple weeks) without touching the mode button in the middle of his games. We bought it through [...] so they shipped out a replacement. Well, it started happening again 6 months later and my frustrated son stopped playing with it. I should throw it out but I've asked vtech to step up and replace it again but even if they do, how long will this one last???

Bought this (in blue) for my four year old for Christmas. We wanted a camera because he loves to take pictures with ours. He opened it and in the first 10 minutes took over 100 pics. Then, a beautiful thing happened, my shy little boy wanted to show off his pictures and he described them in great detail to all our friends and family. Then, he found the video game feature...he spent the rest of the day huddled in his chair, trying to play "the chicken game" and wouldn't let it go until the batteries ran out. We told him we would put in new batteries so we could go outside and take pictures but the camera no longer works, even with new batteries. I think it's a mixed blessing. [...] If we wanted a game player, that's what we would have bought. Why can't a camera just be a camera?

Overall a great camera, made perfectly for a preschooler's hands. Fairly intuitive and works like Moms so kids were SOOOO thrilled . . . put a 2GB card in and they're good to go.

BUT -- if you give these as a gift I would suggest opening and replacing the batteries first. I bought two of these for my children -- 3 and 4. One camera's batteries died after less than 5 minutes of use, the other was DOA. I know . . . I should have checked before wrapping but figured ordering straight from the company would avoid problems like this. Changing the batteries involves screwing off two covers each (makes sense as kids can't open it, but they can open the memory card slot EASY so that is something to watch at first when they're exploring it) One camera had one screw that was clamped down so tight it wouldn't turn and hubby ended up rounding off the top and having to use the dremel to cut new lines to get it off. What a hassle -- almost an hour of crying from my children because they couldn't play with their favorite Christmas gift on Christmas morning.

Picture quality is pretty sad -- blurry, grainy, etc. But let's face it, it's not meant to be a pro camera, it's meant as a kid's toy camera. And they are THRILLED with the pictures regardless of the quality. Seems sturdy and easy for a toddler to use. Haven't looked at the games or editing but sure that will come in the near future! As I said, my girls are both very happy with them so I would buy again and reccomend to others.

I bought this for my six yr old gdaughter. The camera does more than I even realized. She figured out the programs all by herself. It didn't leave her hands for two days before the batteries died. She even took it to bed with her. She belly laughed at putting monkey faces on her brother and gfather. It really encourages creativity and the games were a lot of fun. She loves recording her voice, too. Three weeks later and it is still a hit. Very happy with the quality.

My 3 year old daughter loves taking pictures using my point and shoot camera so I'd thought of getting her this one. Overall, the camera is good for a child but perhaps they can improve the overall response when taking pictures (It is a bit slow). Lighting is a bid bad and has the tendency to overexpose but then again, for a kid camera, I think it is quite ok. Features are quite fun, especially the different effects available to tweak the photo.

My 5 years daughter love taking pictures, so when I saw V-Tech selling Kidizoom camera I thought it was the perfect gift. However, I'm sure not only kids who likes taking picture will fell in love of this product. Kidizoom camera has games incorprated and allow making movies as well. When I saw first Kidizoom camera I thought "well, it's just a toy", but seein my daughter plaing with it I have to admit that's not just a toy, it's an intellingent toy!

My wife is a portrait photographer, which means that our little girl has been on the other end of a camera all her life. We gave her the Kidizoom Plus for her birthday a couple weeks ago, and she loves it. She takes pictures of everything: her feet, leaves on the ground, sunsets, the dog, her lunch, everything. And she loves directing and arranging my wife and me for portraits. She's the boss now!

Four-year-olds drop things, even expensive things, and she has dropped the camera a couple times, once on the driveway. But it's obviously very well built and has sustained no damage.

Our girl hasn't mastered the art of holding the camera still when she's shooting, and the shutter speed is pretty slow. As a result, a lot of her shots are blurred. She doesn't really care right now. She seldom even looks at the pictures she has taken. The fun is in the taking of them. But as she gets older it could be frustrating for her to find that she hasn't captured moments as she'd hoped. This, of course, happens to all photographers, but only time will tell whether the capabilities of this camera feel limiting to our girl, who is surrounded by professional gear.

Battery life is amazing. We've never yet replaced the original batteries, and she has shot a lot of flash photos. A lot!

I've seen reviewers elsewhere suggest that parents just bite the bullet and spend twice as much for a genuine point and shoot camera. I can't see the advantage in that. The low-end cameras are all much too small and too hard for a toddler or young child to hold on to. And they will get dropped, at which point the lack of rubberized plastic surrounding everything will spell goodbye point and shoot.

Our little girl figured out how to use this camera within minutes. She hasn't explored the video features - she doesn't even know they exist - but all the automatic photo settings suit her and she figured out all the important stuff right away.

All in all, this was a really good purchase.

We bought this camera for my daughter's 4th birthday after she repeatedly "borrowed" our to take photos. She absolutely loves this camera but has a hard time taking a clear picture with it due to the delay. They are nearly all blury. At her age, it is hard to hold still for the several seconds required to have a clear picture.
I am not crazy about the game feature. The movies and photo editing are fun and relevant, but who needs games on a camera?
I'm not sure about recommending to a friend. If the child is under 7, than sure. But an older child could probably handle a real camera and take better pictures (and no games!).

This is an improved model with higher MP. The expansion SD was a must. The spec only said it support 2GB of SD card but I put in a 8GB and it works.

The picture quality is only fair even with a 2MP. The lens and flash is important to get good picture quality. With the flash on the PQ was better.

Overall, it is a great kid camera that is durable. I would recommand it.

I bought this for my daughter for her 3rd b-day. We had so much fun taking funny pics and playing games. It's simple to use, but she needs assistance with it. I know it seems pricey for a camera, but it's sturdy. She's dropped it a few times and it's still working well. Wouldn't be able to say that about a reg. adult camera. I would've given it 5 stars but the resolution is not the best...but hey, it's a kid's camera. To protect the camera, I bought a small insulated lunch tote for her to keep the camera in while traveling.
