I don't understand why everyone is complaining about battery consumption. I bought the rechargable batteries here on vtech website and the ac adapter, also they have a car charger. So between all of these my daughter plays on it all she wants.

I bought this for my 7 yr old who loves it. The battery life is poor so we invested in a battery charger from Energizer which is great. My son can go 2-3 days between charges (problem solved)I couldn't find many accessories for it so I bought an iPad case for it which fits great (problem solved)My only concern right now are the apps. I would love to see a bigger selection of age appropiate apps and eBooks.

We bought this for christmas for my 4yr old son, to take on the plane trip to missouri for christmas. It did its job and more, i would recommend this product to others. It does kill the batteries but i bought 2 sets of rechargeable batteries so when one set dies the others will be ready. He has so much fun playing this computer, and it keeps him from killing my phone battery playing games on it. Definitly worth the money!! Its an ipad for kids, might not have all the bells and whistles but you can add apps to it and we downloaded pictures from our camera on there.. great buy!!

Suggestion: Purchase Car Charger w/ an AC Adapter, or Rechargeable Batteries. Learning Log program is an asset for Home Schooling. Downloadable games & e- books, has many choices for age group 4-6, can easily been used for older children learning age group 5-9, great e-book choices & learning games for this group is limited, but worth what I have paid & what I want to get in the future for learning apps. I am satisfied with my purchase as a gift for my grandson, great assistance in Home School Learning.

My 4 yrs old loves now I get to use my IPAD! She likes having me add more games to it. It does take batteries but the lithium ones for cameras are worth the money, they have lasted a week now. It is great that it comes with activities and when you register you get three free v-coins to download free ones! Would like the stylus attahed or be able to buy more, plus i am having a hard time finding the case for it

I got my 4 year old daughter a innotab for christmas because i work two jobs and she has disabilities with learning so i figured the innotab would help her learn what she was behind in. She loves this game so much and im glad i got it but i hate it because i spend so much money in batteries. If this keeps up im going to have to spend both of my pay checks on batteries just to keep her happy. This should have had a charger with it like a cell phone. I cant keep buying batteries. Please fix this ASAP!!!!!

This Christmas gift was great for my 5 year old who is in Kinder. He loves to play, create, and read using the Innotab. I was able to download the National Geographic stories that he loves to read over and over. His reading development has improved and his teacher informed me that he has past the reading level for kinder. love it! I solved the battery consumption problem by using rechargables. I would and do recommend the Innotab to anyone with children.

I have a 9 year old daughter with Down Syndrome. Even thought she is older than the recommended ages...it is perfect in helping her learn!! I love the ease in using it. She can understand and handle it with no problems. Reading is one of her favorite activities and we need some extra help with math, so this is a perfect "fun" learning tablet. Over the years, we have tried many other electronic devices for her to learn and have fun in using them. She ends up getting upset because she cannot always make them do all they are suppose to do. Innotab is not like any of those at all!! Not sure if you were considering children with special needs when designing it, but it works!! I will recommend it to other parents of children with special needs. Thanks!!

My mom bought the InnoTab for my 4 year old for Christmas and he just loves it. It was very easy for him to figure it all out.

The only problems are that it eats up way to many batteries and the little stylist (which my son prefers)is not attached.

He loves it so that is all that is important

My 5 year old son got the InnoTab as a Christmas gift. He hasn't put it down yet! He loves playing on the computer and my our phones, so the InnoTab was a perfect way for him to have fun and learn at the same time. The only down fall is how fast it goes through batteries, but it's worth every penny. He's learning and I love that I can monitor his progress as well. Best gift he has gotten!

My son uses to play the word games and cars 2 games. Plenty of things for him to do on it. My son is HFA (high fuctioning autism) and he just loves his Innotab, if we let him he can spend hours playing on it. I definitly know we made the right decision getting him the innotab. We bought an ac adapter for the innotab and has nullified battery buying. Next purchase will be an adapter for the car.

My 2 boys both got one of these from grandparents for Christmas. Within a week, one of them was broken. The screen cracked so the touch screen no longer works. Also, they EAT batteries. I mean, I have to change batteries out every 30 minutes to an hour. I will say though that the boys love them. They are educational and fun. Just wish they could come up with a wall charger for them and they were more "kid-proof".

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

My 3 year old loves this toy but the battery consumption is awful. We bought the VTech charger and were very dissapointed that it doesn't actually charge the tablet. It just allows him to play while it's plugged in, which means he has to sit by an outlet. So when he has questions I have to contstantly stop everything and he can't just bring it to me so I can show him. Also, I understand that this toy is more for 4 and up but regardless the games we bought (Toy Story and Cars) are still too advanced even for a 4 year old. Again, my son really loves it and it's a great learning tool but dissapointed about that it can't charge.

My 2 year old son got this for christmas from his grandparents and from the time he opened it he loves it. he will sit and play for hours if he could. the batteries were dead almost an hour after opening it, my mom went and bought rechargable batteries and they don't last much longer but our problem it was working fine was playing it and today he was playing it and all of a sudden it makes a weird loud sound and has lines going everywhere on it and it freezes up. we couldnt turn it off. we had to take the batteries out and try and turn it back on and i wouldn't go past the vtech screena nd it would start with the sounds and thats so we took batteries out and let it sit. turned it on an half an hour worked fine then started again. of course this all happens after i make an account on here and try to figure out if there is a warranty on it. my son loves it. He turned 2 in august but he he very smart for his age and figured everything out before we did lol. but the ickstand broke within a week we have only lost the stylus once since him getting it on christmas night.

My 4 year old daughter was wanting something like her cousin has (he has an old iphone). My mom found this and it is great. She has pictures on there, she can type on it and add her friends' info on there. She likes the two games it came with and we were able to get some cheap games and books online. She has two geography books/games on there and loves it. The only problem I have is the battery issue. I put batteries in and they are going dead the same day. We bought the AC adapter and that works great and also the car adapter for when we go on long trips. She is really happy with it which makes me happy!

We have downloaded her favorite movie and she can watch it in the car or when we go somewhere where they don't have kids. Yesssss the batteries go dead but I bought an adapter...problem solved. Oh and I have rechargeables so I can just charge them back up. I got a headset because when she was watching her movie the sound was not good and with the headset it is perfect and the headset comes in handy when she is playing it in the living room :) She has been struggling with reading and pronunciation in kindergarten and this is definitely helping her!

Our 4 year old absolutely loves his Innotab. He has Mickey Mouse and Cars2 game cartridges. We have also downloaded some matching games, puzzles and e-books from the Learning Navigation site. YOU DO NEED A SMs CARD FOR THAT (which is no big deal.) If you have a digital camera, just use one of those SMs cards. It does drain the batteries at a fast rate; however, I am told there is an AC adaptor for it which will be our next purchase. We did purchase the hard cover carrying case to put it in. He loves his Dad's Ipod, so this purchase has been a blessing ! He is able to use his fingers on the screen as well as his pen. I have not downloaded pics or videos so I have nO input as to that....yet !! Once I showed him his "progress report" on the learning portal, he really became excited at how much he'd progressed. GREAT PURCHASE !

I love the idea of the InnoTab. That being said the games are ok but they are boring and much to simple for any child over the age of four. We got this for our 5 year old and he finds it boring. Our 4 year old likes the books but he thinks the games are boring. I HATE how quick you have to replace the batteries. You must have rechargable's with the InnoTab. I do like that I can put movies and pictures on it though. All and all I would say this is a ok toy but not something I would buy again if I could go back. It is just lacking to much.

I bought the toy for my son4thbirthday and also because we were going on a long airplane plus car trip. It took me several hours of work to figure out how to upload videos and other features. I did all the work using the help of good Samaritans who posted in VERY USER FRIENDLY language all the tips (step by step, you tube videos and free software to convert movies) .. I wish V tech had provided more information and help on how to maximize this gadget. This is why I give 3stars only, I feel that the company released an "incomplete" product.
After my own learning experience, my son was introduced to the tablet and loves it!,, Specialy the movies, pictures and music. The few games we got are very boring and don t make much sense. He loves painting and drawing as well the books.
our trip was going great, he was very entertained during long drives, until the toy "disappeared " from our hotel ... I got another innotab and was able to upload all the apps that I already bought for the previous one. We also got the AC adapter, rechargeable batteries and car adapter, and aSD.card .... Summarizing: be prepared for an extra expense besides buying the toy!

Bought this for my 4 year old for Xmas 2011...and she loves it, has become proficient at the pre-loaded games, has pics and music on it and thinks she is very grown up. The reading app is very good but the cartridges are ludicrously expensive!!! Come on Vtech, I am a lover of your goods, but us poor parents need things to be just a little more affordable!

Simple to operate and understand. Gutted that I was unable to obtain it in the UK had to purchase from USA. The price of this I would have expected a charger to be included... you wouldn't get an ipad (which this is a basically a kids version of) with no charger, and I spent a fortune on batteries since the chargers were sold out, and I had to wait for one of these (also had to order from the USA) from 15.12.11 until, 11.1.12. The pen could do with having some way of being attached to the Innotab, my daughter is very careful with hers and once or twice even she has misplaced it.

After reading the reviews, and watching the Youtube LeapPad vs. Innotab comparisons, we went with the Innotab. The number one critical reason to buy the Innotab is that the Innotab's drawing app works MUCH better than the LeapPad's. Plus, you can watch videos, music and upload your photos. The Innotab is missing a camera, but it isn't that big of a deal, considering you can just throw photos onto the device at any time, and it makes more sense for a kid to run around taking photos and pictures with a real (kidizoom) camera instead of a tablet. I mean who as an adult runs around snapping photos at a party with their iPad?? It also helped that we could actually go buy once, since all the LeapPads were out. But we're glad we did. Our 2 year old (almost 3) loves it and as long as we let him, he'll play with it. He loves the default ebook that comes with the unit, and he likes playing the various games we've downloaded for him (some more than others). He even repeats all the words that the narrator says and he calls the innotab his "E-Reader." Really cute. The only downfall to the unit is that some of the games are too advanced for him, and although I know it was designed for a 4+, there is absolutely no reason that they couldn't have more app games that would appeal to the younger crowd. As it is, he likes the shopping cart app, the matching cards app and the default penguin app. He can easily get through the farm app where you put animals into the truck, so that was a good one to help him build confidence. I think he'd like to do some of the other ones that we picked out - count the puppies & remember the order of the balloons - but he doesn't understand them yet.I wish there were a larger assortment of apps available in general. I threw in a 4gb SD card we had laying around, fill it with photos of the family, some Kipper videos, and some music that he likes. It holds plenty of stuff, especially if you preshrink the photos before putting them on there. The only downside to putting stuff on there is that my son goes through and deletes stuff, but it's not that difficult to put them back on. Any apps or photos he deletes I can just reupload to the unit - it only takes a couple of minutes. I probably can set the lock switch on the SD card so that things can't be deleted, I didn't even think of that until now.Like another reviewer, I find it annoying that you can't delete the default photos. We only bought him two cartridges, and both of them are too advanced for him game wise, but the stories are nice, and interactive. I only purchased one ebook online, the Finding Nemo book, and I was disappointed how un-interactive it is compared to the default Rufus story and the cartridge games. Perhaps some of the other DL'able books are more interactive, but it is still a good story and there are sounds that play when you tap on some of the pictures. As he gets older, I expect he'll enjoy the books more for the books than for just tapping and watching what happens. As for the battery situation, go buy some rechargeables on [@]you can get NiMH 3000 mah ones for about 50 cents each, shipped, and you can get a charger for about 10 bucks shipped. You'll be in battery heaven. We find batteries tend to last a couple hours whether they're alkaline or NiMH, I don't know why others complain so much about batteries. I haven't purchased the AC/DC adapter yet for the unit - I'm hoping if I do that it will charge the batteries right in the unit.My wife and I actually have fun playing some them apps too, and we both have smart phones and a android tablet! Even though the touch screen is resistive, it works very well - a bit iffy near the edges if you have bigger fingers but it is made for kids, right? I could go on and on about the features of this thing, but the value of it is excellent compared to the hundreds of dollars that have been spent on other toys. So far, we have about $90 in to the unit itself with tax, $35 for two cartridges and $20 in apps and ebooks. Overall, this is a very capable little tablet, and I would recommend it to anyone with kids.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

We purchased our 7 and 5 year old both their own Innotabs for Christmas. They were an immediate hit! The kids call them their Ipads. We quickly found out that they suck up batteries, but I purchased them rechargeable batteries and chargers, and that fixed that problem! The kids love reading books on it, playing games and making their own artwork out of pics! This, in my opinion, is a great device!

My son was very excited for this when he opened it for Christmas only to find out the volume did not work, the home button did not work, and he could not switch to other apps because it froze. Within a few minutes of use, the battery sign was on saying the batteries were almost dead. We sent it back to vtech and have not heard back from them as to when to expect a replacement.

Service & Delivery comments:

Customer service is an absolute joke. In the past four years I have spent over a thousand dollars on vtech product for my two sons and I was disgusted with their support system. The frequently asked questions did not hsve anything for the recall of the innotab. When I called, there were only three options and two of them directed me to the website to look at the useless frequently asked questions. The third finally got me a human after being on hold for twenty minutes. Unfortunately, the person, named "Jesse" (a clearly fake name to cover the fact that she was actually in India) was no help at all. She was difficult to understand and when I asked to speak with a supervisor, they were all busy in a meeting. I emailed four times with no response. I filled out an online form to get no response. This company should be embarrassed with how they treat their customers. I will be changing over to leapfrog.

Been looking for the ac adapter since Christmas and can't find it in stores nor online. I'm quite sure Vtech knew it would be a hot item & should have have their accessories backed up & ready for shipment. I'm thinking bout returning both innotabs.

I bought this for my 3 yr old son for Christmas. He absolutely loves it. We have a blast playing with it together and by himself. Be warned we go through batteries everyday so buy rechargables. Also the back stand is poor designed. It broke off 5 days after christmas when grandpa was trying to help my son put it away. So be warned it is not grandparent proof. :) Other then the stand great product. You may want to tie a sting to the pencil or it may get lost easily.

I was really excited to get this for my two boys (ages 3 and 5) for Christmas they both loved the toy. It was great until the screen cracked on one of them after only a week. I thought the toy would be a lot more durable, considering it was a toy made for children. They have both played with numerous iPhones and other devices, having no problem with cracking screens. I was quite disappointed in the durability of the InnoTab. And customer service was no help. I have bought numerous vetch toys for my children in the past, but I don't think I will in the future. I'm too disappointed in them. I guess I'll have to stick with a compeditor's products in the future.

My twins each got on for xmas and they love it, but it goes through batteries like you would not believe. We thought this would be great on car rides, but had to change batteries twice on the ride. The adapter should either be included or else at least sold where the innotab is sold. We have ordered adapters online but that still will not address the issue of battery use in the car. I guess I need to shell out more money for a car adapter and hope the cord is long enough to reach to the backseat.

I knew that he would be capable of handling the material and caring for the tablet well but imagine my surprise when exactly one week after he opened this gift it stops working for no obvious reason. It will not turn on for anything. Similarly I bought a mobigo for my 2 year old that ruined his christmas morning when it didnt work right out of the box. I returned the mobigo and was in search for another innotab however now I am not so sure I want to invest more money into these. Now I am stuck with software that i am unable to return as well as AC adapters.Hopefully vtech customer service will be able to help with these issues.

I have mixed feelings about this product because it is wonderful and my son loves it, but when he plays a cartridge game (or the ereader), the batteries last 7 minutes. Yes, I said 7 minutes. If he plays the provided games or art studio, etc, the batteries will last 30-60 minutes. He wants to play with this constantly and I just can't afford it. I am looking into the adapter, but he is very busy and won't want to stay within the cord range.

Be very careful when replacing the batteries! I purchased two of these as Christmas gifts for my boys. After less than two days of use, the AA batteries were dead. I took off the battery cover on one of them and the small piece of plastic that snaps into place broke off (CHOKING HAZARD!)now I can only secure the back with strong tape. Looks very cheap! An hour later, the second one broke too! I have a v-smile that I purchased over 2yrs ago with no issues, must be a common problem with InnoTab? I am very disappointed because Vtech offers NO replacement parts and I discarded the original packaging. What a waste of $$! I gave it 2 stars because of the educational and entertainment value, my kids loved it for the short time they were able to play with it. I am afraid to give the tablets back to them for fear of the tape coming loose and the batteries falling out! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

When attempting to contact customer service I was on hold for 3 hours just to have a rude representiative take my information to call me back in 1-3 days. Its now the fourth day and I have still heard nothing back. Without having to buy an expensive cartridge game there is not much to do with it and my son is completely bored with the toy. The sample games he seemed to enjoy but now that they are the only two things he can do he has lost all intrest in the toy. Teh main selling point on this product for me was that I could download games and books off the computer and now that I cant there is no use for the product. It is very dissapointing.

My 7 year old daughter received this from her grandparents for christmas. She was very excited to read and play educational games on the device. Unfortunatly, you can not look at the available apps until you have opened the device, connected it to the computer and registered it to an account (making it imposible to return). Once we were able to look at the apps we realized that there are no books and few apps overall appropriate for a child 6 years or older.

Even for younger children the app selection is very poor and the price per app is terible when compared to the value you get from an android or apple app.

I also purchased a large amount of batteries from our local BJ's Wholesale club. He is only 3 and I know it says for 4-9 but I think with cell phones and so many households with computers they are able to use this at a younger age. He has already mastered some of the games. This is a wonderful purchase if you children spend a great deal of time each day in a car. We are taking a trip this weekend and can't wait to see how that goes with something to keep his mind busy.

It is very durable for their "rough" personalities. The only drawbacks I have encountered is battery consumption (though I knew to buy the A/C adapter with it ahead of time) & the misplacement of the stylus. Since the stylus is detachable, my children often lose it & I'm left spending my evenings hunting it down. Still a great product, despite the inconvenience of the free-range stylus.

I got this for my seven-year-old, but it has such ease of use that my four-year-old loves it! My daughter uses my mother's iPad all the time, and an iPad is what she asked for Christmas. So I started looking...I was up in the air over the innotab and Leap Pad. I was able to try the Innotab at a local store and even then I was still completely unsure if it would do exactly what I was looking for. I bought it and I have been so impressed. It operates quite a bit like the iPad. My daughter loves everything on it! I bought two games to go with it, and to be honest, I probably could have done that later, b/c it comes with SO MUCH on it! The only thing I would recommend is buying an SD card for it. I can't save any music or pictures, etc. But this is something that I am so glad that I purchased it. Amazing price for what all it offers!

Seems like a great concept, however it isn't very user friendly. I own a Mac and since my purchase of the Innotab 2 weeks ago I still can't figure out how to download videos or music from iTunes. The mjpeg format seems to be unsupported. I've called vtech customer support and they "could not recommend any converters" or any help! So then I gathered everything up and went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and they couldn't find an app that would convert to a mjpeg format. I've googled like crazy looking for a solution and asked everyone I know and still haven't had any success. I'm afraid this will end up going back to the store. My advice to Vtech would be to be more compatable with all operating systems.

my daughter loves it she is seven and she can play games and everything. i hate that you have to have an sd card because had i known i would have gotten her one with the tablet. :( she opened it at 7 this morning it is now 9 and she is still playing. the batteries die in an hour so you need to purchase the ac adapter. i can not find the alarm clock that it advertises to have. my daughter is upset about that and it is aggrivating. its good for younger kids but not fast enough or equipped enough for older kids

Bella is 2 yrs old and has played with Ipad and Iphones for over a year. She LOVES the INNO Tab,she has played with it daily (hours) since she got it. "My New favorite Toy" is what she calls it..

Get an SD card, get rechargeable batteries (I get them for all her toys) and it will be "the best TOY".

NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS HERE.

I am pleased with the Innotab. I debated between the Leappad and Innotab, and am so glad I chose Innotab! After purchasing an SD card, I was able to transfer music from my iTunes library, pictures from my computer, and some of my sons favorite DVDs. These are things I couldn't have done with the Leappad. It does hog batteries, but we have an AC adapter from our old Vsmile system that works perfect with it. I also bought the car charger. I purchased this for my 6 yr old son, and figure even after he outgrows the educational games he will still be able to use it as a portable DVD player and mp3 player for years. I think he would outgrow the Leappad fairly soon.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

I bought 3 of these as Christmas gifts. Setting them up was really easy. I am just really impressed with this toy. I downloaded music, pictures, videos, a movie, and 9 apps on each Innotab. I bought an 8gb sd card and it isn't even half full!Vtech gives 3 free vcoins with each Innotab that can be shared with all three tablets so that was a great deal. The art studio is really fun, even my 11 year old son has a blast playing with it. You can use your own photos and color on them, add funny wigs, glasses and hats or make awesome drawings. The apps are very reasonably priced at 2.99-4.99 each. Also they have already added more apps so the selection is steady growing. I was very torn between this and the LeapPad, I'm so glad I went with this. One complaint is it does go through batteries fast but we plan to buy the adaptor and it does seem like better quality batteries last longer. I ordered all three from the Vtech website and they all shipped super fast. I ordered 2 recieved them, and was so impressed I ordered a third. Thanks vtech!

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

I bought this for my 2 year olds bday in a couple days. I thought it would be a good idea to load it with with games, books, pictures and movies before she received it. Best idea I've ever had because its taken me 2 days to get everything right. I could only image her opening it and then me taking it back until it was ready. She would have had a fit while I was getting it ready.

I suggest everyone bypass the learning navigator and click and drop pics and vids by using Mycomputer>Vtech>LLC>movies/pictures. Also after searching the web for days for a free compressor that will also convert movies to .avi I came up with Pocket DVD Wizard. Its $15 (I know, I know I didn't want to pay either) its the best for what many parents are looking for. Trust me I'm saving you time by searching the web for hrs and running into false converter/ compressor programs.

Good luck!

I have been so excited to get the InnoTab. I was trying to decide if I should get InnoTab or Leappad. I decided on the InnoTab for my 5yr old son. He loves music and loves to draw pictures and play games (he will be learning while he plays). I really like the cost of the online apps compared to $20 to buy the game from the store. I am glad I set it up before Christmas. You do need to have an SD card to download apps from the website. It was very simple and easy and the apps don't take allot of memory. I bought a 4GB and downloaded 7 apps and it used 1-2 MB per app so the 4GB is plenty.

I bought this item for my daughter who is 2 years old, she has a 4 year old mind. She loved it on first sight so it was bought. In one day, specifically in 5 hours our 4 duracell batteries was eaten up. Which is REDICULOUS! The rubbery insides that's underneath the power button has now moved, mind you, my daughter is gentle and she only held it for 3 days. smh. I hate the fact that who have to buy an SD Card so games who download can be put on the device and also the pictures, and things of that nature, that your child might do on the system CAN"T be saved without this IMPORTANT item. There's no camera or anything so you have to buy the Kiddie Zoom camera so that feature will work. smh. It's like, this item is ok untill you're ready to really have fun with it. I mean it's good enough but it's NOT good enough. I'd recommend it though b/c it's still an ok device.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

After one month use by my kid, here is my review.
The innotab can attract kid immediately. The kid can spend most of the time on the toy.
The toy is a battery killer, so you have to buy a AC adapter.
The stand on the back of innotab was fragile and was broken already.
The kid is easy to be addicted into the toy, so be careful of the toy's bad effects on the kid eye health, independent thinking and communication ability.
The kid like to put the pen into mouse or on face which is dangerous. In fact the kid's little finger is enough to operate instead of using the pen.
Overall, this toy is not good for everyday use because of the addiction and long time usage, but it's good for temporary use such as traveling to keep child busy and in quiet.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

We received this InnoTab as a gift for my daughter's 4th Birthday. She loves it! A few down falls is that the back of the innotab gets extremely hot after just a few minutes of use. Also, the battery life doesn't last long at all. I installed 4 AA batteries into it at 4 p.m. and by 8 p.m. the low battery light was already flashing and I didn't use the cheap batteries. I would recommend getting the AC adapter and car charger to make sure the kids get plenty of use out of it. I would also get an SD card for it that way you have enough space to purchase extra games online or even to put pictures, movies, or music on the device. Hope my review was helpful to others!

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

I am a first time parent and I like to research anything I buy for my family.
I was debating beweent the Vtech tab or another similar product.
I purchase this tab because i thought i could download movies or even video clips to keep my baby entertain.

Cons:
-I can't download any videos from my mac to the tab. I think you need to buy the kidizoom to download videos you record form there. There goes more $$$$$$
-Today was the first time i open it. However, in the process of downloading some applications from Vtech and figuring how this thing works. The battery was gone by the end of the day. Unbelievable are you kidding me!!!!
-very disappointed I thought i bought a great product but it seems that i need to buy many accessories to make this tab work.
-I put a 2 GB card and sometimes the pad does not it. I had to take out and back in a few times.

Besides the imperfections the applications are interactive and educational.

The Only thing I wish the company changes is:
- Make it rechargeable and run on batteries as a backup.
- be able to download movies. I don't mind paying for it if it was available from the download store. What the company needs to know is that we moms travel a lot with our kids. A movie, video clip, cartoon, makes such a big difference. If we can see movies from our cell phones and touch pads when we travel why can our kids have something similar.

At this point I am still debating if I should return it and buy my child a touch pad or just keep it.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

I bought this for my son for his birthday. Without any additional game purchases the unit was fun and entertaining. I cannot wait until Christmas to give him some of the games. I think the online downloads are ok, it doesn't take much to beat the games, but with this age group they play it over and over again even if they have beat it. It definitely helps when he has to go along to dr. appointments and other things that require him to sit still...

Service & Delivery comments:

The only issue I had with this toy is the battery cover broke within a few days of purchase... I contacted customer support and they sent out a new one free of charge. Their prompt service will encourage me to purchase additional vtech products.

We bought this for my 2 year old, even though he's not in the age range, but that's only because he plays with our iPhones ALL the time. We thought this would be great since he would get more edcational use out of it, be able to grow with it, and that it plays movies so when he is in the car he can choose to play a game, listen to an ebook, or watch a movie. I was pretty bummed that it did take batteries and an SD card, but we just bought the a/c adapter and car charger for him to use. I know it's brand knew, so I'm hoping they get more games to download and purchase. I gave it 4 stars becuase I always believe there's room for improvements. Nothing is perfect :)

We got this for our son for Christmas and I know he will love it. I did a lot of reading to decide between the Innotab and the Leappad. The face that you are able to add extra storage to the Innotab and upload music and vidoes was the deciding factor for me. He loves my iPad so I wanted something as close to that as possible. I have taken it out and played with it and got it all set up. He will love that it has all the games and songs and movies in one place. The only thing I wish it had was thumbnails for the movies so he would know what they are by the pictures, since he will only be 3 when we give it to him he will not be able to read the titles. I was able to easily convert all his movies to the AVI format and it did not take much time. Some of the reviews seem to want to compare this to the iPad or iPod, you just need to keep in mind this is a kid's videogame, so it will not be able to compare to these electronics. My son does have an iPod and I do not think this product will be able to completely replace it but I do think he will enjoy it just as much.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

The software is a nightmare and time consuming. Here's the story.
1 I downloaded the software from vtechkid, just several minutes
2 Then I started installing the software, but the software said I had to wait for additional download, so I waited for 10+ minutes
3 But after that, the software says I have to update the firmware, which takes 1hour+ to download and update, and the update interrupted one time.
4 I tried transfer pictures and MP3 to the tablet. But I was not able to transfer video files as the manual described, because the software say it's under construction. Oh,my God.
5 When I switch to another laptop or PC, I have to repeat all of the above complex software install steps.

Other cons:
1 No charger provided, when I got the tablet, I had spent more than $10 for batteries instead of buying the $9 charger, if I knew there's no charger, of course I'd like to order a charger together with the tablet to save my money, time and environment.
2 No SD card provided as expected. So I tried 1G and 2G SD card, works OK. The 4G SDHD card works not well, the 4G SDHD card will take long time to boot with black screen and no response. So kid had to press the power button.
3 The thrumbnal and every software app will all take seconds time for loading. The kid may not be patient to press the power buttons.
4 Limited software packages to buy.
5 The game can't be controlled by parents, so the kid will take a lot of time on that instead of on education.

let me say that i ordred 2 from TOysrus.com then a week later i noticed they were offereing the same with a free case at the same price to i canceled my order and got the ones with the free carry case. i ended up getting 3, 2 pink and 1 blue, all of wich work fine. it did take some time to down load the pictures music and videos and burned some batteries. also its seems there is trouble with Windows 7 being able to see the Innotab, but i ened up using a laptop with Vista and things worked out fine.let me say that we haven't actualy given them to our grand daughters and grand son yet, as they are christmas presents. i will say that we have played with them for several hours so far and find it to be pretty cool. it works as its supposed to regarding the different funtions. the music player works with MP3's and it sounds great. you will be surprised at the quality of sound the speaker puts out. Its not a bosse but its pretty darn good for the size of speaker. the video player works good.i installed a movie onto the SD card (AVI) and its picture quality is [*] good for being a toy as well as the sound. i will ad that there are no controls for the video player. meaning when you start a movie your only choices are exit or watch till end, theres no pause, FF, RW, Stop, and if you want to stop it you have to go back home and when you return to the movie you will have to start watching from the begining. with the Vtech website you can buy more games and books and they are basicly free because you can use "V-COINS" that your child earns from playing. but they also give you 7 v-coins when you get a new innotab. the ebooks are very good, the only thing i didn't like was that only certain words can be chosen to click on to get the meaning, only the ones that are highlighted. it has a datebook/calender that you can ad notes / appointments to, this seems good for helping a young child to develope skills on taking responsability for appointments and being on time. and it has a calculator, the pictures also look pretty good. and the slide show feture works well. so far i have installed onto the 16GIG SD card 3 movies, 6 ebooks, downloaded 9 games from vtech, 30 songs, about 20 pictures and we still have plenty of space on each card. the game cartridges don't actualy take space on the card so that leaves you plenty of space for music or videos.how to install music on your innotab? when you get your innotab and SD card you will need to install the card, turn on the system, click on the icon for music. there will be one free song in there, do the same for the video icon. you need the innotab to create the folder you will use later. once you have clicked on music and video and backed out. turn off the Innotab, NOW your card is ready for receiving the files, you can install files by using the USB wire or remove the SD card from the Innotab and install it into your PC SD card reader. (the later is faster) if your using the USB wire connect it to your PC, go to the Vtech website and download the Vtech Learning Lodge, and install it onto your PC, open that program and click on file manager, there you will see the Tabs for Music, Movies and Pictures. the music and pictures install simple, but you wil notice that the movies feture doesn't work. to install movies just use windows to install the movie file into the folder thats Marked "MOVIE"...open my computer, then look for removeable drive, then LLT, then open the folder that says Movies and just paste your movie in, eject and your done. let me also say that the batteries die pretty fast so i recomend getting the AC adaptor. i feel that considering the Price Vtech should have included one for free. also the pouch is pretty well made. its a neopreen so it offers a little padding. oh also i want to note that the touch screen doesn't work that good. when your try and swipe the screen it sometimes eccedently chooses an item rather then moving the screen. i'm not all that sure if thats me or the screen. but the pencil seems to work better then a finger.

We bought this for our 3yr old for the plane ride to NY for Christmas. As i know he is out of the age range i wanted something to keep him busy on a 3hr plane ride, and he has mastered the iphone so i was not to conserned. I was a little scared with all the other reviews about have to buy all the game for it but to my surprise it came loaded with alot of stuff, witch i was really happy about. thought my son will not see it tell we are on the plane my husband and i cant put it down it is awesome we love it and know for a fact he will too!!! and i think the only con is that it runs on batteries but we just bought 2 sets or rechargeable batteries so there will always be a charged set.

Keeps children occupied. This is like a substitute for my android phone. My son loves the interactive reader and the preloaded games. Just wish the cartridges weren't so expensive.

My son loves this. He is 3 and is a PRO at the iPad (knows more than I do) :) I wanted to get him something for his own, so I can have my "toy" back!! He can sit and have books read to him, play his own games and learn all at the same time, and he doesn't even know it. When he plays games, he is learing problem solving, working together, his numbers, matching, etc. This toy is amazing, and I'm glad I made the purchase! V-Tech toys are great for kids, and I wish I bought this a long time ago!!!

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

Our son loves to play with our cell phones and loves to read. So, what better gift than an e-reader with photo viewer, art studio & games for his 2nd birthday. Our primary use for this will be road trips so we decided to go with the InnoTab since it has an optional car charger (LeapPad does not). The Innotab does not have a camera, but a 2 year old does not need a camera. It was very easy to upload pictures & music from our computer to the InnoTab. The screen is not as sensitive as our cell phone screens, which is good for use by a toddler. People in previous reviews have complained of the cost of the Innotab as well as the cartridges. However, the Innotab retails for $20 less than its leading competitor, the LeapFrog LeapPad. We received a $15 coupon on VTech's website so our Innotab was $35 less than the LeapPad. The cartridges are the exact same price in our local store for the InnoTab & LeapPad [$]. In addition, VTech has books & games you can download online for only $2.99 each! Our son knew instantly how to turn it on and loved it from the moment it was opened. This will be something he will definitely be using for years to come.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

The innotab is a clever children's gadget which keeps with the ever-changing world of children's electronics. We do use rechargeable batteries which is a big help. We also own the Leap Frog learning tablet which has the camera. The camera is not at all a great camera and the videos are a little fuzzy. There's no flash and in order to get s decent picture you need a still image and great lighting. I tried to upload regular jpeg photos to the leap frog and couldn't do it. With INNOTAB I easily uploaded photographs and AVI videos. Granted the game cartridges are a little spendy but all video cartridges are about 20.00 (except the obvious). So ya, it's a great toy. My 3-yr-old loves it. I would definitely recommend. And by the Way, your review should be made based on OWNING the unit, not your assumption that you won't like it. After all, it's not about your satisfaction in the end, it's about your child's.

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

I purchased this item thinking it would be more durable and child friendly than a real ipad or similar. The screen is barely larger than my android, you can't download things from anywhere other than vtech for this item, the screen does not always work when touched, the software is expensive. Considering that my android was only $40 more than this tablet, this toy is a ripoff. you have to buy an SD card to download anything. no rechargeable battery-eats batteries like crazy. does not include an adapter for a/c, they mak you buy this seperately as well. I could go on and on about the expense related to this versus a real touchpad. I'm sorry i didn't simply buy her a cheap touchpad computer since it woud have cost me less to do that. Don't waste your money on this toy. Very, very disappointed in this item. If i could return it, i would. If nothing else, you should be able to load the free games from the internet that you can load to things like your phone or ipad. my daughter likes the toy, but gets bored quicjly because the items you can put on it are so limited.

My grandson commandeers my android phone and my nook color. I bought this because it was durable and had interactive touch screen games and mp3 and picture storage. It has been eating batteries, you can't use the mp3 or the picture menus to download anything. I wish I could get my money back, so not worth the price nor the battery investment. Steer clear!

Comments about VTech Electronics InnoTab Learning App Tablet:

I have been very interested in VTech toys since my son could play with toys. But the older he gets and now more hands on the electronic gadgets are great! His first gift was the MobiGo which was the best and he still plays with it but I thought by getting the InnoTab he will love it even more! No matter what vtech electronics they are all so easy to use reagardless of what the age limit states because my son is only two and has had the MobiGo since he was one and will be three next month so this gift will be great for him!
